I am sick of faith, want to try somthing new, I am think of making a brand bow

35% Chance To Cast Level 14 Amplify Damage When Struck

100% Chance To Cast Level 18 Bone Spear On Striking

+260-340% Enhanced Damage (varies)

Ignore Target's Defense

20% Bonus to Attack Rating

+280-330% Damage To Demons (varies)

20% Deadly Strike

Prevent Monster Heal

Knockback

Fires Explosive Arrows or Bolts (15)

have anyone use this bow before? How good is it, have seem any discuss on this much.|||Not directly related to amas, but I tested it on a merc with my barb as an attempt to get amp damage. Sure enough it worked, but the merc also died a lot, lol. Heres how it turned out

And the opinions vary. Some people like it better then faith and better then windforce. While other think it's a big piece of ****.

In the end, what you need to remember is that you really have to build around the bow. and not just put in on forinstance, a faith bowazon or a windforce bowazon. And that you should run the area's the fits the profile (you need to use that damage to demons, so don't run places lots of strong undead/animals).

And if you manage to do that, it can be a fun alternative for the main stream bowazon.

Will it be better?

All you can do is try out for yourself and let us know. The bows aren't really used all that often, and different opinions have been expressed over the past few years.|||Quote:

-CtC Amp when Struck, not On Striking, so it does little good unless you're taking melee hits, which you never should of course

-CtC BS is just fireworks, unsynergized

-Explosive Arrows only works with Attack, not any specials

-20% DS is nice, but the effectiveness of this goes down with points in CS.

-No IAS means you'll be hurting for BPs

So basically you get a bow with decent ED, bonus EDvD, KB and 95% CtH vs pretty much everyone. WF Eth gives you basically the same effect....|||Quote:

I say that depends on play stile. If you manage to build your amazon so it can sustain a few hits and you play aggressively (some might call it bad) like me. I can imagine that to be a fairly interesting mod.|||How would you do that on a bowazon though? No shield means no blocking, no DR from SS...Zons get no defensive bonuses besides DEA, and those preclude CtC when Struck. And vit dumping instead of dex dumping, which isnt that effective on zons, means you'll have horrible AR and bow damage. Plus Brand has KB, which also precludes taking melee hits.

Sure you could do it, but why would you just so that about 1 hit in 3 triggers an Amp around you?

Sadly, Brand the runeword is about as useless as the Russell of the same name |||i missed the bit that amp on stuck, I need to rethink about it now

I'm seeing it the other way around. You don't want to get hit to trigger the amp.

You get hit because you play to aggressive/not defensive enough. And if you do this using faith or windforce, you are dead. With brand, you can assume you will trigger amp if you survive long enough and once amp trigger, your damage multiplies enough for you to survive on leach.

And btw, you don't really have to make that much sacrifises. pvp bowazon manage to get good damage and decent life just fine. It might take you an inventory full of 3/20/20's, but I never said it wouldn't be expansive.

And assuming you pick your place good, that 300 ed to demons equals to 300 less dex, that's quite a bit life just there. Even more if you compare to a knockback faithazon (using hitpower gloves for knockback).
