Strafer-ama gearhelp

So, I work on a strafer-amazon.

I used to run one back in the days, since it was fun, thou I got a lot of dcs from onhit skills, and I didnt dare to re-create one until now.

After some digging I think the skill that made me dc was the torch hellfire, not the other onhit skills, since it spammed hellfire so freaking fast with maxed AS.

Anyone know the facts about that? should I stay away from skills like that in general, or is it just that one?

I do enjoy to have multiply chars in the air, but this one have taken my time a bit more then the others so far.

I need some help with the gear I should use.

The imbue quest, is it of any worth for this build?

Thinking about going for a nice circlet or anything, but +skill aint something I aim for, damage-output in general is what I am after for this one.

skillers dont increase that much of damage.

I do play ladder, so those runewords work.

Skills I use (aim for)

Maxing Strafe, nothing else in that tree.

Passive, maxing valk/decoy for a phat tank. (so I can run a act1 merc with bow-auras)

Going to put more into critical strike/pierce later on (might max critical)

Thats about that.

Gear so far:

Bow: WWS (going to up it, and prob change it later down the road for a runeword of higher class, hench the critical maxing)

Gloves: Craft myself some hit/blood gloves to switch btw, the knockback, is it on the first hit or all hits during strafe?).

For now I got hit with IAS 10%, will do until later.

Rings

Carrion and wisp is what I thought about so far, if it wont dc me.

Carrion packs some nice life-steal, hoping to get a 9%.

Skill-increase dont give me as much dmg in the long run, and a mix of elemental on hit or just raw damage is what im looking for.

Amulets

Cats eye or highlord, nothing else, if I cant get some 2passive neck with allres/life/manasteal, would be grand thou.

Armor

Here is a tricky one for me, not really sure on wich one to get, some CB would be nice, but besides that, offensive armors, got any tips? (not talking about super-expensive stuff at all)

Was thinking about treashery for the envenom, but poison dont run good with the attackspeed-build.

Belt

Nosferatu, for the IAS, besides that I dont really know, going to look around on what I can get on crafted ones.

Boots

Boots, boots boots, this is what bugs me, should I run for CB, imbue/crafted?

What packs the most dmg-output?

Helm

This one feels so "on the spot" guillams (typo?) with a 40% ed jewel.

Got a 30% ED and 1-67 Lightning damage jewel atm, going to toss it in the first one I foumd, to upgrade later on if I get lucky again with a jewel.

Hope for some answers.

EDIT:

Running a merc with a Edge bow for the moment beeing, thinking about making her a aura-lady.

Aiming for fanatism, but thats an expensive one, is thorns on a phat valk worth it damage vise or does it just sound nice? (always cools with auras thou)

Am I better of with a vigor-aura in a bigger bow?|||well, i would suggest u snoop around in the stickies, cuz the gear u plan to use does not compliment each other very well =)

one arrow can either trigger critical strike or deadly strike for double dmg, both doesnt work. so with wws u have around 60-80 % ds

the game checks first for critical, so if u go for high lvl crit anyway, the ds i kinda wasted. rather use a lycanders or harmony for cheap options or skip pushing crit, while using wws, and respec later, when u switch to something else

gloves: strafers want kb, so either get that from gloves, bow ('nef') or using giant skull. an alternative would be laying of hands. nice dmg increase with its 350 ed to demons

rings: u need one raven frost at least, many ppl use two. ar, dex (= ed) and cbf is golden. a frozen bowa is a dead bowa. for second ring, id use a rare ring with one leach or dual leech. with some adds like min/max ar str dex res life mana (of course not all of them, but the more the better - non leech rings can work well too)

amulets: cats eye is a nice bowa amu. highlord not so much. other good choices are metalgrid or atmas scarab

armor: griswold armor (3 open sockets), lionheart, duress, treachery (if u need the ias badly) would be my top low cost choices

belt: razortail is better than nosferatu, except u need the ias. razor adds its pierce to ur skill and u only need lvl 9 pierce for 100%. thundergod would be nice too for its light absorb or use a rare/crafted one with fhr str life res 'ow' (the more the better, but any belt can work. the belt wont make or break the build)

boots: best choices for dmg: goreriders or wartraveller (gores better for strafe, wts for multi imo) other: rare ones with frw fhr dex res (frw is mandatory imo, rest up to preferences and weaknesses of other equip) sanders or aldurs can be nice too

helm: andi, gaze, steelskull, biggins, rare ones, magic ones, valk helmet...so many choices. each has its pros and cons. check what u need and pick one. but guilli is not so good cuz, u can get enough cb by using gores + duress and the ds will not be very effective while having high crit

for more dmg, get an a2 nm offensive merc with its might aura. that is if its all about maxing dmg

valk shouldnt be maxed but lvl 17. she can tank almost everything on that lvl. a few lvls in decoy is nice, but not that useful imo|||Quote:

Aye, peaking around there as I play/plan, when time is given. ^^

I am planning on giving up WWS later, probably around the part when I get skillpoints over to put in critical, so this is not an issue. I know running WWS and critcal is totaly waste. ^^ probably didnt say that in the topic, sorry.

gloves: strafers want kb, so either get that from gloves, bow ('nef') or using giant skull. an alternative would be laying of hands. nice dmg increase with its 350 ed to demons

Aiming to get hit gloves with Life/mana and AS, so far I only got AS on my hits, lucky they always have knockback.

rings: u need one raven frost at least, many ppl use two. ar, dex (= ed) and cbf is golden. a frozen bowa is a dead bowa. for second ring, id use a rare ring with one leach or dual leech. with some adds like min/max ar str dex res life mana (of course not all of them, but the more the better - non leech rings can work well too)

Yah, im guessing I wont get the mod anywhere beside raven, got one ready to use, I thought carrion with its high lifeleach would be nice, might overestimate the onhit effects damage.

A blood-crafted ring perhaps? with the right mods that is, or is it to few mods on it even at higher levels?

armor: griswold armor (3 open sockets), lionheart, duress, treachery (if u need the ias badly) would be my top low cost choices

Lionheart was a nice one, but whats so special about griswolds?

Any suggestion on what to put in it?

belt: razortail is better than nosferatu, except u need the ias. razor adds its pierce to ur skill and u only need lvl 9 pierce for 100%. thundergod would be nice too for its light absorb or use a rare/crafted one with fhr str life res 'ow' (the more the better, but any belt can work. the belt wont make or break the build)

So, there is no real "godlike" belt for damage output? besides the pierce/attackspeed, no big worries here then, aiming for a rare for now.

boots: best choices for dmg: goreriders or wartraveller (gores better for strafe, wts for multi imo) other: rare ones with frw fhr dex res (frw is mandatory imo, rest up to preferences and weaknesses of other equip) sanders or aldurs can be nice too

Guess im going for gore rider then.

helm: andi, gaze, steelskull, biggins, rare ones, magic ones, valk helmet...so many choices. each has its pros and cons. check what u need and pick one. but guilli is not so good cuz, u can get enough cb by using gores + duress and the ds will not be very effective while having high crit

dreaming of a giant skull 2s to free the gloves, but hm, might get a diff approach on the helmet, cheers for that clarification.

for more dmg, get an a2 nm offensive merc with its might aura. that is if its all about maxing dmg

valk shouldnt be maxed but lvl 17. she can tank almost everything on that lvl. a few lvls in decoy is nice, but not that useful imo

I do know a a2 nm offensive merc will increase my damage heavily(sadly), but I aim for a act1 merc with a nice bowruneword, and valk to be the pure tank, thats why I am maxing, even thou its not the optimal route, im going for it.

Thanks for the reply, it did help.

was worried about missing something with belt, no worries anymore.

Helmet, hm I really was blind-focused on that one, will take a deeper look.

Besides that I am rather on the right track where I want to go, and it dont seem to far off from your tips.
