I finally got a hold of a CoH for my ice maiden, my previous armor was a Duress. In the Ice Maiden guide I followed for this build ( http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=614373 ) Duress isn't even mentioned, but I like it a lot, and almost stands against the CoH while being a lot cheaper.
Here is a little comparation with a full twinked equipment (well, except anni)
Chains of honor (in a 15% great hauberk) dol um ber ist
- Def 928
- Magic Arrow damage 579/1013
- Strafe damage 492/927
- Frozen Arrow damage 562/996+3537/3623
- Total defense 1663
- Resistances in Hell ~10%
- +2 all skills
- 100% damage to undead
- 200% damage to demons
Duress (in a 15% great hauberk, average roll) shael um thul
- Def 1215
- Magic Arrow damage 636/1215
- Strafe damage 532/1070
- Frozen Arrow damage 621/1200+3339/3521
- Total defense 2021
- Resistances in Hell ~-25%
- 15% crushing blow
- 33% open wounds
- 40% faster hit recovery
The 10% enhanced damage of duress really helps phisical damage, and the ice damage bonus almost makes up for CoH damage gain from the +2 skills.
Duress makes you a little more of a "glass cannon" because of the very low resistances and no damage absorb, but gives you more def with a 150%-200% enhanced defense. Just be aware of Gloams during baalruns. The runes are very cheap so you can try a couple rolls.
I understand that the crushing blow and open wounds won't make up for the undead/demons damage bonus of CoH (as almost any enemy in the game is an undead/demon) but it can help take out bosses faster.
TLDR version: I think Duress is underrated and you should use it if you can't afford a CoH.
Just for reference, the rest of equipment is
- Nightwing + jewel of fervor
- Ice MB +3 skill
- Highlord
- Stone of Jordan + Ravenfrost
- Rare gloves +2 skill 20 IAS with mana leech
- Razortail
- Gore Riders
- 2 bow skillers + 1 torch
