Newbie Questions & Clarifications ~

Just looking for some quick answers to a few answers I've come across while building my amazon. Help is much appreciated.

1. Runeword candidate armors/helms:

Does the defense matter greatly (PvP & PvM). I imagine it does more for PvM than PvP. I never understood back when I played in .10 and I still don't. Why is it that people prefer the archon plate (more defense but much more str. required) over the mage plate (less defense but less str. required).

2. 120/45, ed/ias:

I know they're almost extinct now and I'm better off hoping for a lottery win but I like to be prepared just in case (though no where as close to it I've managed to find a 20 ed jewel and a 15 ias jewel). Am I better off socketting in a bone visage (103 str req?) or my crown (55 str req).?

3. Poison charms vs. Max dmg charms:

Which is more effective to stack? A lot of posts say it is better to stack max dmg sc. but I have doubts that at 3 max dmg (I know it's a little more in reality) per charm you'd be able to top the thousands of dmg/sec poison charms give.

3.b. Poison charms - dmg/sec:

I've come across one of the threads discussing effective poison stacking in PvP and one of the posts confused me. I always thought *15 psn dmg / 3 sec* meant you'd do 15 damaged over 3 seconds or 5 dmg a second. Some of the posts had me think that it actually means 45 dmg total. Which is correct?

4. Attack Rating: (I admittedly didn't @search this one >.<)

What is the average required to hit your opponents effectively in PvP? Is there a formula for the AR to defense ratio for % chance of hitting?

5. What do I do when links in the amazon guide sections sends me to http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Catego...ews.php?id=587. Does it mean the guide has been moved to that site? For every one of those links I'm thrown I'm sent to the homepage of that site.

6. Skillers:

I plan on making a traditional hybrid amazon (following TienJe's .10 guide). TienJe doesn't mention any skillers and recommends ar/resist/life/frw sc's. Is this still the way to go? Are there variants that include jav/passive/bow skillers?

Edit: Forgot to ask about 6.|||1) For some builds it does, for most it doesn't, true both in pvp and pvm. If you're not going for any defense increasing skills then chances are it doesn't matter. However resell value plays part in what people make them in too.

2) Probably doesn't matter, go with whatever you think looks best, personally I'd go diadem.

3) http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=713008

4) facts and formula archive:

Quote:

Chance to Hit

100 * AR / (AR + DR) * 2 * alvl / (alvl + dlvl)

AR = Attack Rating; alvl = Level of Attacker; dlvl = Level of Defender; DR = Defense Rating

Note: Attacks will never have less than 5% chance to hit nor more than 95% chance to hit.

Final chance to hit is truncated.

GA doesn't need AR, but for multi having some is handy ...

5) Strategy compendium was the guide collection site before moving to use a wiki system, you can still find the older guides there. Personally I use the forum foremost before checking the wikied guides.

6) No skillers for that one. Ask yourself what would they be used for ... bingo.

Adding more into javelin skills is pointless as you rely on the physical damage of LF, not the lightning. Adding more to the bowskills gives you 5% extra ed on GA per skiller ... miniscule compared to the possible +max gain. And lastly you've already got enough skill points to increase the passives to the levels where their diminishing returns kick in hard.|||Thanks for the help as always, concise and very informative!
